Drivers Ed Logger - Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 3, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how the Vroomio mobile application (the "App") handles information. Vroomio is designed for personal use to help you log and review your driving practice sessions. We built it to keep your data on your device. We do not run accounts, analytics pipelines, ad networks, or cloud sync services.

1. Overview

We minimize data collection. Driving session information stays locally on your device in the App's storage unless you manually export or back it up through system features (e.g., iCloud device backup). We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.

2. Data We (Do Not) Collect

2.1 Account Data

We do not create or require user accounts. No usernames, emails, or passwords are collected by us.

2.2 Driving Session Data (Local Only)

Data points such as start time, end time, duration, distance, and (if enabled) location coordinates are stored only on your device using Apple's persistent storage technologies.

2.3 Location Data

If you grant Location Permission, the App records GPS coordinates during an active driving session to compute distance and summary statistics. Location data is not transmitted to our servers (we operate none) and is not shared with third parties.

2.4 Crash / Diagnostic Data

Standard, aggregated crash or diagnostic reports may be provided to us by Apple (if you opted in at the OS level). These reports may include anonymized technical metadata (device type, OS version, stack traces). They do not contain your driving log content.

2.5 No Advertising or Tracking Identifiers

We do not integrate advertising SDKs, third‑party analytics, or tracking beacons.

3. How We Use Information

Locally stored data is used solely to:

  • Display past driving sessions and totals
  • Help you monitor practice progress
  • Compute derived metrics (e.g., total hours)

Crash logs (if any) are used only to improve stability.

4. Data Storage & Retention

  • All driving logs persist until you delete the App or remove them inside the App.
  • Deleting the App removes local data; system backups (e.g., iCloud device backup) may still retain historical snapshots under Apple's control.

5. Permissions

5.1 Location

Required to record route points / distance during active drives—especially when the screen is locked or you switch apps. The App is designed around continuous background location updates; therefore selecting "Always Allow" is required for full, reliable drive logging.

If you choose "While Using the App" only:

  • Logging may pause or terminate when the app leaves the foreground
  • Distance, duration, and route metrics can be incomplete
  • Automatic idle/end detection may fail

You can change the permission in iOS Settings at any time. Location data remains on the device and is never transmitted to our servers (we operate none).

5.2 Notifications (If Enabled)

May be used to remind you a drive is still recording or to confirm completion. No marketing notifications are sent.

5.3 Motion & Fitness (If Later Added)

Currently not used. If introduced, we will update this Policy first.

6. Your Choices & Controls

  • You can delete individual driving entries within the App.
  • You can revoke Location or Notification permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data (excluding system backups).

7. Children

The App is intended for use in supervised driver education contexts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All data remains local.

8. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or license your driving data. No third‑party processors are engaged for user data.

9. Security

Data is stored using iOS sandbox protections. We do not transmit the data, so network exposure risk is minimized. Standard device security (passcode, biometric lock) further protects access.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy for clarity or to reflect new features. Material changes will update the Effective Date. Continued use after changes signifies acceptance.
